Sessions & First-Time Throwers
What happens during an axe throwing session?
A standard session lasts up to 60 minutes, including check-in on the lane, a compulsory safety briefing, throwing instruction, practice and interactive games with digital scoring. Your Axe Master remains with your group throughout to supervise the lane, help with technique and run the games.
Do I need previous axe throwing experience?
No. Sessions are designed for beginners as well as returning throwers. Your Axe Master explains the lane rules and teaches the throwing technique before the games begin.
How long does axe throwing last?
Standard lane bookings last up to 60 minutes, including training. The Warrior group package lasts 90 minutes and includes one full hour of axe throwing. The Epic package lasts 180 minutes and includes two hours of axe throwing competitions.
Will our axe throwing lane be private?
Yes. Each standard booking reserves an exclusive lane for your group. The live booking system lists each lane for two to six people, so your group will not share that booked lane with another party.
How many people can play at the same time?
Each lane accommodates up to six throwers. The Hammersmith venue has three lanes, allowing up to 18 people to throw during one standard session, subject to availability.
What if our group is larger than six people?
Groups of seven to 18 can be divided across two or three lanes. Contact us before booking if all lanes need the same start time. For groups larger than 18, ask about combined sessions, a bespoke event or whole-venue hire.
What are the interactive games and digital scoring?
Projected targets turn the lane into different axe throwing games rather than one static target. The system records scores digitally so your group can compete across 22 game modes.
Bookings, Payments & Changes
How do I book an axe throwing session?
Use our secure booking system to choose a lane, date and available start time. Walk-ins are accepted only when a lane remains available, so booking online is the best way to secure your preferred time.
Can I book axe throwing for today?
Yes, when spaces remain. Check the live booking calendar first. Online slots are usually removed around two hours before their start time; if no time is displayed, call 0330 122 8877 to ask about remaining availability or a walk-in.
How much does a standard session cost?
The secure booking system displays the current price and total before payment. Check live availability and pricing for your chosen date, time and lane.
Can I pay a deposit or reserve a lane without paying?
Standard bookings are paid in full when booked. Deposits and unpaid reservations are not accepted for standard sessions. Contact us directly to discuss payment arrangements for a larger corporate or bespoke event.
Can I add more people after booking?
A standard lane has a maximum capacity of six throwers. Contact the team before your session if you want to add players. Additional places and extra lanes depend on capacity, availability and any additional payment required.
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?
Standard bookings are paid in full. To request a different time, contact us at least 72 hours before the scheduled start. A new time is subject to availability and the conditions accepted when booking. Email lond@gameofthrowing.co.uk or call 0330 122 8877.
When should we arrive, and what happens if we are late?
Arrive 10 minutes before your booked start time for check-in. Sessions run to fixed start and finish times. If you arrive late, time will be taken from your experience. Call the venue immediately if your group is delayed.
Can we request a session outside the times shown online?
Contact us with your preferred date, time and group size. Additional times are not guaranteed and depend on staffing and lane availability.
Do you sell axe throwing gift vouchers?
Yes. You can buy a Game of Throwing London gift voucher online for family or friends.
Age, Safety & What to Wear
What is the minimum age for axe throwing?
Our standard experience is advertised for ages 10 and over. Contact us before booking anyone under 18 so the team can confirm the adult supervision arrangements required for the ages in your group.
Is axe throwing supervised?
Yes. Every session begins with a compulsory safety briefing and throwing instruction. Axes are thrown only down empty, enclosed lanes, and an Axe Master remains on the lane throughout. Every participant must follow the Axe Master's instructions.
Can we drink alcohol before or during axe throwing?
Do not arrive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Anyone considered unable to participate safely will not be allowed to throw. The venue offers non-alcoholic drinks.
What should I wear for axe throwing?
Closed-toe shoes covering the entire foot are compulsory. Flip-flops, sandals and other open footwear are not permitted. Flat shoes are recommended for a stable throwing stance.
Can we wear fancy dress?
Yes, provided the costume does not interfere with the activity and is not offensive or distressing to other guests. The compulsory closed-toe footwear rule still applies, and participants must follow any safety direction given by the Axe Master.
Can I take part if I am pregnant or have a medical condition?
We cannot provide medical advice. Speak with an appropriate healthcare professional if you are pregnant, recently postpartum, injured or unsure whether the activity is suitable for you. Contact the venue before booking to discuss practical requirements, without sending sensitive medical details through the booking form.
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Game of Throwing London is wheelchair accessible, with a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible toilet. If you have a specific requirement beyond this, call 0330 122 8877 or email lond@gameofthrowing.co.uk so the team can confirm what can be arranged for your visit.
Are pets or assistance dogs allowed?
Pets are not permitted. If you use an assistance dog, contact us before your visit so the team can plan a suitable and safe arrangement around the throwing lanes.
Can somebody come along just to watch?
Spectator space is not guaranteed. Contact the venue before booking so the team can check the number of non-participants, the session time and the space available.
